John Betjeman famously wrote "Come friendly bombs and fall on Slough!". To frustrate the Radars used to locate them the German bombers would also drop clouds of foil since the radars could not distinguish one from the other.
This historical detail was the source for the Gateway piece on Slough High Street, a cloud of aluminium foil leaves cast within the resin dome. Each leaf carries the signature of a passerby collected one afternoon in 2007, a snapshot of the community. The dome is lit at night by an LED lighting show, scrolling through colours.
