GraingerTown Map was a collaborative project with fellow Artist Tod Hanson, resulting in a cast bronze and granite feature.
We sought to create an idiosyncratic interpretation of the topography and buildings of Newcastle’s historic city centre. Lit with LED cove lights the piece changes colour slowly at night and acts as a genuinely correct presentation of the footprint of the area. Whilst this piece is not a traditional Gateway piece it establishes the start of a walking route that culminates in the city centre at Greys Monument.
It is a popular piece both with visitors and the City Council, being one of the lowest maintenance Artworks in the city.
The bronze casting was by Pangolin Foundries delivering a durable and robust feature
